Long version:
Where the rules of the game come from?
The main rulebook will be released for the mass of backers of the Kickstarter in the coming weeks.
For new players, there is the free possibility to download the starter rules as a PDF.-> Demo Rulebook
The starter rules are a very good introduction for Chronopia, as they contain all important rules (melee, ranged, movement, etc.) for the so-called "hero level".
These hero levels are battles of a small number of individual characters.
Game values for the individual pieces are included in the starter rules.
This allows you to get to know the basic functions of the game very well, as Chronopia become more and more complex and extensive in terms of the basic rules as the number of miniatures (up to 100+) increases, and they build on each other step by step.
Other game material requires a D20 dice, a tape measure and, of course, figures.
Figures
Like the rules, the design of the Minis is strongly based on the first edition from the late 1990s. The oversized shoulder armor is particularly striking.
An example of this can be seen on the right. This is the 3D model of the new Orc Infantry Leader. Here the typical Chronopia characteristics are easy to recognize. The special thing about this figure is that it is offered free of charge as a file for download.
So if you have a 3D printer at your disposal, you can download the STL file and print out one or more figures.
-> Download STL file
As with the main rulebook, no figures are currently offered commercially until the bakers have received their orders.
Those who still want to test Chronopia can use any matching figures in 28 to 32mm scale. If in doubt, you should explain to the other player before the game which miniatures / game values are involved.
Players who have figures from the previous Chronopia editions can use them without hesitation.
Plays
With the rules, game materials and figures, everything is ready for the first rounds of Chronopia. For this purpose, it is advisable to look for a teammate. If you don´t have a teammate yet, you can ask in the social media channels. In particular, there are quite a few Facebook groups.
A suitable list can be found in the section: Links.
Highly recommended is also the Chronopia Discord Server, which offers everything you need to coordinate and exchange ideas.
If you feel like it, you are welcome to replay your first gaming experiences in Discord. Submissions can also lead to publication here on the homepage. We would be happy.
Background - What does the fluff do?
For many players, in addition to the pure playful aspect, a mature and deep background is also part of a hobby.Chronopia lives up to this. Each faction and unit has its own character and background, which is clearly different from the classic fantasy forms.
A small overview of this is provided in the article: Factions.
In the rulebook there is an extensive part on the background of Chronopia.
Much of the material from the old editions can be read online. For example, in the archive (archives.chronopiaworld.com) in the category "Articles" and in the individual factions.
Conclusion
With the information on this page, you can quickly get started with Chronopia. We wish you a lot of fun and would be happy if you share your experiences with us.
In this sense,
Chronopia World.
